5 Years and Counting

June 8th was our 5 year wedding anniversary! 

So, just for fun, I dug up our 1 year anniversary photo. Here we are. Two young lovebirds:

And here we are 5 years later:

Yeah, so this second picture is certainly not going to win any awards. I didn't want to scare the waitress by giving her my Nikon to take our picture with, so we just used my old kodak. And it's a bit blurry and my smile is a bit forced, but I still think you can see a huge difference between us now and us 5 years ago!

Since I'm the one who writes the most on this blog, I get to take the opportunity to say what an incredible guy I married. I still remember one of the first nights on our honeymoon Joel suggesting that we should pray together, on our knees, before we go to bed at night. I'd never really prayed consistently on my knees before (barring a short stint in a Catholic school), but I was impressed by Joel's suggestion and it's a tradition we still keep up. Not only is it a position of respect towards our God, but it's a position that shows our commitment to each other. We are traveling on this journey side by side, looking up and ahead to the glory that is coming.

I knew that night that I had married someone really great and I'm learning that more and more as the years go by. It's been 5 years of major change for us: new jobs, new baby, new houses, new cities, new states, but we've worked through all these new changes together, and it's grown us closer together and closer to each other.
